Jersey Driving and more
So recently i moved to New Jersey with my girl friend after leaving Savannah, GA and SCAD. It's weird to be a recent graduate. I think until I land that first job I will feel like im still part of the college world but supposed to be part of the adult world tongue . Oh well. I am now entering my third week here in Jersey (you would think i would post sooner but idk if anyone actually reads this). I have been busy working on a few projects while i job search. Mainly i have been working on the website and portfolio for my good friend Mike Nako. Some images below:

Before i left SCAD i did an independent study this summer which was on image based modeling and 2 1/2D. One of the grading points for this study was to create a tutorial on how to do this in Maya. So, here is a link for that. Included is a 6 page tutorial with pictures and supplemental files.

Moving on I am also working on a DVD of the HDRI's on my site so that if someone does not want to download them all they can request a DVD for shipping cost. I will be posting more as long as i survive the commute around Jersey. Driving here is a bit nuts, everyone is on a mission and has somewhere to be. If you don't know where your going you still need to pretend that you do or risk having un happy drivers to your rear.
All in all i am getting used to driving and living here and love the view that we have of uptown Manhattan and the George Washington Bridge. You can see photos of our place on cecily's facebook!

ok i think that's it for now

3 1/2 weeks and 2800 miles, Site updates, high fructose corn syrup and Pre Multiplication
Crazy title huh? well that's how i do things here at Crazy8 wink . Whats it all mean? well i will start at the top. First things first, it has been awhile since i have posted hence the 3 1/2 weeks. During this time i have gone from Savannah,GA to Cleveland, Oh to New York, New York back to Cleveland then to Savannah for one night than off to Clearwater, FL for a couple days and then back to Savannah. Phew that was a mouth full. So, in between all the traveling and shooting more HDRI for the site i managed to get some rest.

On to the list from the previous post. Well it seems there are some bugs that i still need to work out of my javascript code. It seems as usual that Microsoft is behind and while the scripts works properly in FireFox it does not in IE. So, until i get that figured out (one of the things i hate about web development) i will not post it. The HDRI cookies and Textures are still on the way, I am also working on the Tutorial Page, Downloads and gallery page. The Links page is still in the process of being updated and organized. Finally i placed the final HDRI environments up to make a total of 12. I hope you all enjoy them and use them for some really great work! one little fun fact HDRI 10&11 or the bridge and the parking garage, is that they are 5 exposures each and consist of 160 images with a total folder size of 5Gb each!

Moving on.... Why High Fructose Corn Syrup? Well, as i was sitting in my room here in Savannah, GA working on BAFitz.com (which might i add is up and running!). I picked up my drink, looked at the label, and got to wondering when i saw that it was an ingredient in the Arizona Green Tea that i was drinking. Do you know what it is? why they use it? Well i will spare you from having to do the research or read to much to get the jist of what HFCS is.
Basically, High Fructose Corn Syrup is a cheaper alternative to Sugar. It is a sweetener that is made up of Glucose and Fructose but lacking Sucrose. It's easier to Blend and also leads to products with a much longer shelf life. A number of studies have been done to see wither this man made sweetener is bad for you and basically all studies have either come up with nothing or showing that it has no worse effect on you then sugar. If you are further interested in this check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-fructose_corn_syrup

Finally Onto pre multiplication...I had a major break through in my understanding of this at the end of last quarter. Look forward in my tutorials section for a tutorial on how to turn off pre multiplication in maya and also more information. Basically though think of pre multiplication like this. If you are rendering an image out with all 5 channels (RGBA) and what you are rendering doesn't fill the entire frame you have empty space. what pre multiplication does in an effort to save space is is multiply the alpha channel by the RGB channels. Essentially if the alpha channel is made up of 1's and 0's then with simple mathematics anywhere that there is black or 0 the color value will be deleted and anywhere there is a 1 it will be kept. I will go into further detail with visual representations of this but that is the jist.
