Been Awhile
Well as I'm sure everyone knows life has a way of sweeping up our free time. In my case, my time has be seriously monopolized. I recently started a new job and am now a part of Brainstorm Digital. I have the privilege of getting to work with and for some amazing people.

Recently, (by recently i mean in the last month) I received an email about how someone could follow the updates of this site. While, i do have the ability to add rss to this blog i decided to use twitter instead. so if you would like to catch updates to this site you can follow my twitter at http://www.twitter.com/crazy8studio. That should make sure that everyone that reads this is updated when i update the site.

So whats next for my site? i am planing a redesign. Something conhesive across all 3 of my domains. Also, I am planning to release a HDRI DVD with some extra goodies as well. The Current Specs are top secret tongue .

I promise i will get back to sharing and posting information about 3d, VFX, HDRI and the lot. I may even have more info to share about scripting.

I know how tough the economy is out there right now. So, just remember it isn't a reflection of your talent if your having a hard time finding work. Keep your head up cuz you got mad skillz wink

Modo Test and Vimeo Test

Above is a test that i did to explore a linear gamma work flow and also to further explore modo. It also provided me a chance to put Modo on my small render farm and use nuke some more. The light turning on is completely done in nuke and because i did it this way it saved me from an extra 140min of rendering. To achieve this effect i rendered a single frame from Modo with only the overhead light on and Gi enabled. This provided me with a frame that contained all the lighting information from only that light. then i simply subtracted this new frame from the first frame of my scene and bang! the over head light goes off. Then i simply held the first frame for 60 frames and i controlled the light with this expression in nuke(my first!!! too).

frame>40?frame<50?random(frame*.5)*.1:clamp(((t*.01)-.5)/.1,0,1):0

cool stuff engh? Anyway i just signed up for Vimeo thought i might give it a whirl for these test video's and stuff... idk we will see how it goes. my Vimeo address is http://www.vimeo.com/crazy8studio
